No organisation wants to give up the benefits of keeping a team united and cohesive. That's why more and more companies are betting on incentive events and team building activities. What are they and which trends are currently driving the sector? We tell you all about it in the lines below.
There are essentially three MICE trends shaping incentive events: sustainability, in-person presence and artificial intelligence (AI).
Traditionally, the incentive events segment — because of the travel involved in holding congresses, incentive trips and other related events — is one of the least sustainable. That's why resource-saving plans are being put in place. More and more organising companies are opting to reuse furniture and materials from fairs, to schedule merchandising or catering services adjusted to the people who have confirmed attendance, and so on. In short, one of the trends making the strongest inroads in the incentives segment is sustainability and care for the environment as a decisive factor when organising an event. So much so that eight out of ten companies take sustainability into account when planning an event, according to the latest studies.
In a post-pandemic era, in-person presence is also gaining ground in incentive events, where hybrid formats (halfway between in-person and virtual) are emerging as a complementary method. Carrying out group activities in person, sharing a meal with colleagues, running team building activities and other group dynamics are essential to bring teams together. Virtual events, by contrast, make interaction and closeness harder. Along these lines, the focus today is above all on welcoming settings for group dynamics, as well as more frequent breaks or more agile programmes, scheduling smaller, highly flexible meetings.
AI applied to incentive events supports better planning, security and data management. It is also an outstanding tool for identifying behaviour and audience patterns, analysing attendee data to establish preferences, answering questions, and more. In short, technology and artificial intelligence are a great ally for delivering 100% personalised experiences.
